DR. C.J. WEE WAN-LING
Vice-President
Wee Wan-ling teaches literature at NTU. He was a Fellow at ISEAS and Visiting Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, Delhi. He is the author of Culture, Empire, and the Question of Being Modern (2003), editor of Local Cultures and the 'New Asia' (2002) and co-editor of Two Plays by Kuo Pao Kun (2002).
MR. ALVIN TAN PENG HONG

Alvin Tan is a History teacher in the Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) Gifted Education Programme. A Master of Arts candidate at the NUS Department of History, his research focuses on the Chinese-educated as an intellectual force in post-war Singapore politics. He has been with SHS since 1998 and is its Honorary Secretary. He has worked on issues like the Chinatown debate and his essay, "Two Imaginings", was published in Our Place in Time (1999).
MS. KELLY FU SU YIN

Kelly Fu is a post-graduate sociology student at NUS. She was previously Deputy Manager (Legal Services) at the Attorney General's Chambers. She is an active SHS member, having helped organise a conference on the preservation of cemetery spaces as well as developing the Society's website (http://www.singaporeheritage.org).
MR. JEYATHURAI A.

After six years as a lecturer at the Singapore Command and Staff College, Jeyathurai established Singapore History Consultants, a research and consultancy firm, in 1995. As Managing Director of Journeys Pte Ltd, he developed the ‘Original Singapore Walks’, the first daily walking tours for tourists. He is also director of Changi Museum. Jeyathurai received the ‘Spirit of Enterprise’ award in 2003.

MR. WILLIAM SIM JUAY CHEOW

Entrepreneur William Sim’s diverse businesses include manufacturing building components, treating wastewater and supplying playground equipment. He helped set up the Australian International School in 1993, and more recently, the Australian World Schools franchise. He is an active member of the CDANS Executive Committee. In 2003, he was elected Director of United Nations Association of Singapore. In the same year, he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Medallion for 35 years of community service.
MS. GERALDENE LOWE-ISMAIL

Geraldene Lowe-Ismail has for over 40 years been bringing the nooks and crannies of Singapore to life. She is well-known for her walking tours through ethnic and heritage areas, and her expertise in sourcing props and locations for filmmakers and writers. She is the author of Chinatown Memories, published by the Singapore Heritage Society.
MR. NG CHING HUEI

Ng Ching Huei is a Research Officer with the Singapore History Museum. He received practical training in archaeology through local excavation and laboratory work. He is currently pursuing a BA degree with the Beijing Culture and Langauge University.
MR. LIEW KAI KHIUN
Committee Member
Liew Kai Khiun is currently pursuing his PhD in history at University College London. He has represented the Singapore Heritage Society in an Urban Redevelopment Authority Subject Group on matters concerning local heritage. He also developed the Society's regional network links with similar organisations in Malaysia and Thailand. Through the Society, he has worked to raise public awareness of heritage issues, especially in relation to cemeteries and train station names.
MR. HO WENG HIN

Ho Weng Hin is co-authoring a Singapore Heritage Society book on Modern Architecture in Singapore with Tan Kar Lin and Dinesh Naidu. His previous collaborative projects with Tan include scripting Building Dreams, an acclaimed Arts Central documentary series on local architecture, and editing Singapore Architect magazine. His other projects include co-editing the China journal World Architecture with William SW Lim and working on an NUS research project on the history of the colonial Public Works Department.
MS. TAN KARLIN

Tan Kar Lin is an M.A. (Architecture) Research Scholar at NUS where she studies the early urban amusement parks of Singapore and Malaya. She has collaborated with Ho Weng Hin on several projects, including the Singapore Heritage Society books Rethinking Chinatown and Heritage Conservation in Singapore (1998) and Memories and the National Library: Between Forgetting and Remembering (2000). Tan and Ho were also awarded the inaugural National Heritage Board Curatorial Research Grant in 2002.

MR. KWA CHONG GUAN

Kwa Chong Guan is with the Institute of Defence and Stategic Studies, NTU. He is also an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the NUS History Department. He is a member of the Steering Committee that helped develop the Singapore Discovery Centre. He was the Director of the National Museum and Oral History Centre in the early 1990s. He also helped to develop the Philatelic Museum, of which he was Chairman till 2001. He has authored several papers and edited or co-edited Oral History in Southeast Asia (1998), Our Place in Time (1999) and Beyond Vulnerability?: Water in Singapore-Malaysia Relations (2002).
MR. WILLIAM SW LIM

Following a his renowned architectural career, William Lim now writes and lectures extensively on subjects ranging from architecture to post-modernity to social justice. He is the author of eight books and has helped edit two others. Lim was founding President of the Singapore Heritage Society and is President of AA Asia, board member of LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts and Chair of its Asian Contemporary Arts Centre. He is a Professor at Tianjin University and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, where he received a Doctor of Architecture Honoris
